In 2008 English Heritage now known as Historic England extended its Building at Risk register to cover all Built Heritage at Risk and has issued a Heritage at Risk Register every year since, split by Region.

One register covers the East Midlands and includes the City of Leicester

During the summer of 2013 members of Leicester Civic Society survey team took the Leicester City Council 2009 list of Buildings at Risk and resurveyed all the buildings adding some more that they had become aware of and produced this 2013 list.
