Leicester Civic Society

Campaign: Leicester Civic Society Conservation Projects

Since 1969 Leicester City Council have been designating districts of the city as Conservation Areas.

Some of the surveys in recent years (2011 - 2014) have been done by members of Leicester Civic Society. In late 2013 LCS published a list of suggested Conservation Area changes. Each year a report for the preceding summer was published in the March edition of the Leicester Citizen. The four reports with pictures can be accessed on the website.

In 2013 the LCS project was to re-assess the Leicester Buildings at Risk register

Starting in late 2013 the project (initiated by Leicester City Council) was to review and update the Leicester Local Interest List. Stuart Bailey the LCS Chairman issued a memo to the team  and Leicester City Council issued a Project Guide. Volunteers were recommended to read the English Heritage Good Practice Guide for Local Heritage Listing
